Comedian and filmmaker Ben Stiller is turning his directing eye to horror with the early 1900s-set THE MOUNTAIN.
Deadline reports that Stiller (ZOOLANDER) is reteaming with the Helen Childress, the writer behind his feature debut REALITY BITES (it was never meat loaf!), for an adaptation of Edith Wharton's 1917 novel, SUMMER. The film is said to be about a "young woman who struggles to confront her destiny after stumbling upon a mysterious object that forces her to examine the secrets of her past." The book itself, seems to be a psychologically based horror story.
Stiller has no doubt given us some excellent, smart comedy. Definitely intrigued to see what he does with this.
