Based on the infamous confessions of Alexander Pearce, Australia’s most notorious convict, VAN DIEMEN’S LAND is a dark Gothic tale that reflects Australia’s true colonial heritage.
Jonathan auf der Heide’s film has an official site. Here’s the synopsis:
In 1822, eight convicts escaped the brutal penal settlement Macquarie Harbor in a fateful bid for freedom. Led by ex-sailor and experienced navigator Robert Greenhill, the men made battle against some of the world’s harshest terrain in the unexplored wilderness of Van Diemen’s Land (now know as Tasmania).
As supplies run out and the tensions in the group escalate, the group soon contemplates the unthinkable.
High Fliers releases VAN DIEMEN’S LAND on UK DVD May 24. You can check out the YouTube trailer below.
