TALES FROM THE CRYPT is looking at a television relaunch, although not how most of us would expect.

Deadline reports that the original HBO series producer Gil Adler, alongside EUREKA co-creator Andrew Cosby are developing a new hourlong series based on the classic EC Comics. It won't exactly be an anthology, however, with Cosby explaining, "It will be an ongoing series that uses characters from the comic books in a more modern context. It's all about continually elevating the genre, for both existing fans of the source material and mainstream audiences."

What exactly that means, I'm not sure. The project is slated to go out to both cable networks and broadcast, although if it doesn't end up with an HBO or Cinemax, there probably won't be much hope.
