FX has picked up and announced the premiere date of NIP/TUCK and GLEE creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's new series, AMERICAN HORROR STORY.
Deadline reported the pickup. The show stars Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton as the Harmons, who relocate to the west coast following a miscarriage and adultery. Of course, the San Franciscan home they move into is haunted. Also starring Jessica Lange as next door neighbor Constance whose mentally handicapped daughter seems to have intimate knowledge of the house's secrets, the series is set to hit October 5 with a full thirteen episodes in tow. The show sounds full on supernatural and surreal, citing classics like ROSEMARY'S BABY and DON'T LOOK NOW as inspirations and hinting at a housekeeper both Ben and Vivien Harmon each "perceive" differently.
Since FX seems to have a lot of faith in the show (and it admittedly sounds like a really strong addition to a bit of a resurgence of horror on television), it wouldn't be surprising if FX's surprise pilot screening this Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con happened to be the first episode of AMERICAN HORROR STORY. Here's the description from SDCC: "9:30-10:30 FX Pilot Sneak Peek Screening— Surprise! Stop by for a special Saturday night sneak peek at one of FX's most highly anticipated pilots. At press time, details of this exclusive screening event were unable to be released by FX, so please check the room sign outside of Room 6DE for updated details. Room 6DE"
Definitely worth looking into.
