Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water… Just when you thought a genre movie could actually be made in 2-D… Just when you thought JAWS 3-D was enough Carcharodon carcharias action in three dimensions… Well, you’re going to need a bigger boat, because SHARK NIGHT 3D will be attacking the big screen!

Deadline announced that Incentive Filmed Entertainment is financing the $28-million film, which will begin lensing this summer. The director? SNAKES ON A PLANE’s David R. Ellis, who has experience working with sharks (he did 2nd unit on DEEP BLUE SEA) and dimensional gore (THE FINAL DESTINATION). The script was written by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes, and the film will be produced by Lynette Howell and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE’s Mike Fleiss and Chris Briggs. It’ll be racing BAIT, a Russell Mulcahy flick about tiger sharks invading a tsunami-flooded supermarket that’s currently in the works, to 3-D screens.
