Universal was looking to keep its legacy of monsters going with a follow-up to the enjoyable, but sloppy WOLFMAN remake. It looks like a complete overhaul, and not a sequel, is in the cards however.

Moviehole is reporting that the studio has scrapped intentions to continue the story started in Joe Johnston's retread, instead planning a rewrite of Michael Tabb's current incarnation to hue closer to the 1941 classic. It's unclear if this means Lawrence Talbot's tale of woe will be told yet again, or if it's simply an original story along those lines. It's said the new film will share a "link" with George Waggner's, though, so who knows?

It'd honestly just be nice to see a solid werewolf film.
