At this point, it’s well known the Alamo Drafthouse and its collectible art offshoot Mondo are the coolest things going (don’t believe? Check FANGORIA #303). This weekend, the annual Rolling Roadshow (a series of outdoor, free 35mm screenings in pertinent locations) starts up again, and 2011 sees an all-Texas host of films. They’ve just unveiled the Mondo posters for their offerings, which include two badass genre titles.
On June 4 and June 5, you can catch THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and BLOOD SIMPLE, respectively.
Naturally, TEXAS CHAINSAW will be presented in the iconic Junction House, which now sits in Kingsland, Texas (as opposed to its original location of Williamson County) and has been transformed into an eatery. While all screenings are free, this particular event will see two purchasable VIP options that conjoin with the restaurant:
VIP Package #1 ($50): The VIP ticket includes two food tickets good for barbeque provided on site by the Alamo Chefs, a Mondo Texas Chainsaw Massacre t-shirt and a reserved spot in the VIP seating area complete with a Texas Monthly Rolling Roadshow camping chair that is yours to keep after the screening.
VIP Package #2 ($100): The VIP Dinner ticket includes dinner at the Junction House before the screening, a raffle ticket for a chance to win the whole set of Texas Monthly Rolling Roadshow posters from Mondo, a Mondo Texas Chainsaw Massacre t-shirt and a reserved spot in the VIP seating area for the screening which comes complete with a Texas Monthly Rolling Roadshow camping chair that is yours to keep after the screening.
Marilyn Burns (Sally Hardesty), Edwin Neal (Hitchhiker) and Writer Kim Henkel will all be on hand to intro and Q&A the film as well.
BLOOD SIMPLE, Joel and Ethan Coen’s modern classic of a noir will be presented in Austin’s Dessau Hall, which appears as Marty’s Bar in the film.
