Please, not CARRIE.
Deadline is reporting that playwright, comic book writer and former FANGORIA intern (!) Roberto Aguirre-Sarcasa has been tasked by MGM and Screen Gems to pen a new adaptation of CARRIE.
CARRIE tells of the titular telekinetic, repressed and introverted daughter of a religious fanatic mother who's brought to a deadly and destructive place by her torturous classmates. Aguirre-Sarcasa has previously written the graphic novel version of King's THE STAND and just re-wrote Broadway's notorious SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK.
Of course, Brian De Palma's classic film version strayed a tiny bit from the novel and it's entirely possible a successful re-telling could be produced; but a) why? and b) it's been tried, twice. Still, it's best to remain optimistic. Unless they cast Cam Gigandet in a role. Then my head will explode.
