RULE OF THREE creators Eric Shapiro and Rhoda Jordan, making good use of the downtime until their second feature gets going, have shot a short adaptation of Jack Ketchum's "Mail Order" and given FANGORIA the first look with some exclusive pics and comments.

Taken from the author's short story collection PEACEABLE KINGDOM, MAIL ORDER sees a snuff film obsessive confronted with one day seeing an ex-girlfriend of his onscreen. Shapiro and Jordan, who co-wrote the well-received RULE OF THREE, took on MAIL ORDER while waiting for their debut feature to hit small screens. "It was a long wait for RULE OF THREE to stream," Shapiro says. "The distributor gave us a good push, but we found ourselves in a window between its DVD release and its digital launch. The real goal was to make something. We're seeing doors open on our second feature, but there's only so much waiting you can do between shoots. It's addictive." 

"I needed to do something fast, lethal, and angry, and Ketchum's door was the one to knock on," Shapiro adds, praising the genre legend's work. "He's a master. So much of the Ketchum conversation gets tied up in the grim subject matter, but to me the real conversation is his talent for storytelling and characterization. It's unprecedented. There's no pretense. There's no fat. He pipes you directly into the content, and it was exciting to explore visual ways to do the same."

MAIL ORDER wrapped production May 17 and while nothing concrete is planned, Shapiro and Jordan hope to circulate the film in festivals with an eventual DVD release of some sort. Meanwhile, their solid, confined thriller RULE OF THREE is now available on DVD and as of this week, streaming on Netflix Instant.
