Troma has shifted the venue for its annual TromaDance Film Festival closer to home, hosting the 11th event in Asbury Park, New Jersey on Friday-Saturday, April 16-17. And the company has now sent out the list of independent short flicks being shown, including a bunch of fright fare, all for free.
The screenings, which will take place at the ShowRoom (708 Cookman Avenue), commence with a fundraiser presentation/New Jersey premiere of Troma’s POULTRYGEIST: NIGHT OF THE CHICKEN DEAD at 10 p.m. on the 16th. Among the genre titles, some in a humorous vein, from all over the world being shown are Doug Mallette’s BEAUTIFUL AS YOU ARE, Adam Comiskey’s animated BURN THE WHOLE PLACE DOWN, Lasse Nolte’s THE GOLDEN NAZI VAMPIRE OF ABSAM: PART II—THE SECRET OF KOTTLITZ CASTLE, Ryan Braund’s FOUR THIEVES AND THE NOT-SO SWEET SHOP, Steven Kostanski’s INSANOPHENIA and LAZER GHOSTS 2: RETURN TO LASER COVE, José Zambrano Casselle’s MINA, Eric Scherbarth’s SINKHOLE (pictured, and highly recommended), John Goras’ animated THE TRUE ADVENTURES OF GHOST TANK and Rafa Martinez and Inaki San Roman’s ZOMBIES AND CIGARETTES.
Also on view will be comedy shorts including Andrea Lodovichetti’s IL DIAVOLO (THE DEVIL) and Stian Hafstad’s LITEN PENIS (SMALL PENIS) and NEMESIS, other animated fare including Karl Tebbe’s MILBE (MITE), Pierre-Emmanuel Lyet’s PARADE, Cameron Kerr’s PESTICIDE, Victoria Cook’s PIE OF THE DAY, Marc M.’s SICK ANIMATION, SUPERBATTLE: EPISODE 1 from ROBOT CHICKEN animator Ethan Marak and Ben Falk, Josiah Newbolt and Jordan Wood’s THIS IS WHERE WE LIVE; Clint Enns’ found-footage WHIPLASH; and Iban Del Campo’s burlesque documentary DIRTY MARTINI. The whole shebang closes with an after-party at the historic Asbury Lanes (209 4th Avenue), where fans can take part in some “independent bowling.” Although there’s no charge to attend any of the films and events, Troma is soliciting donations to keep the fest running.
