[UPDATE: Adam Green has spoken briefly about the current set of HATCHET III talk, head below for the latest...]
Danielle Harris will be facing off against Victor Crowley
once again in HATCHET III.
Speaking to Dread Central, who reached out about the latest buzz of a third Victor Crowley outing, Green said, "I am not writing the script for HATCHET 3 right now as I am focused on KILLER PIZZA and another project that hasn't even been announced yet. While I intend to see Danielle Harris' "Marybeth" character return in the third installment, nothing is in stone yet, and the actual production is still a ways away as right now ArieScope is finishing CHILLERAMA and working on other projects that need to wrap up first."
"Given what my next year or two looks like right now, I may just be producing HATCHET 3 as stated in our official press release, so who knows what direction this could all go in under a possibly different writer or director. I'm staying as open-minded as possible. Everything else you're reading online is just excitement and enthusiasm for the next Hatchet film, which is terrific to see, but there are no accurate facts in it and there is nothing to report at this time."
Original post is as follows:
Fearnet spoke with Harris, who replaced Tamara Feldman as Marybeth in HATCHET II. “Adam
[Green] is writing it right now,” she says of the upcoming sequel. “He’s so
secretive about that stuff, even with me. I signed on to HATCHET II before
there was even a script. I know Adam so well that I knew he wouldn’t steer me
wrong. So he called me, text messaged me about two weeks ago. I got it at
midnight and he said, ‘Pick up Variety tomorrow morning. You’re on the cover.’
He said, ‘We’ve greenlit HATCHET III.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God! That’s so awesome!’
So we just did some press the other day, because the U.K.’s just getting the
release of [HATCHET II], and I said, ‘Alright, dude. You have to tell me. I
know you’re writing it right now. What is it? Just give me an idea of what the
story’s gonna be. Do I die in the first act, because if I die in the first act
I’m going to have to kill you.’ And he said, ‘No, you don’t die in the first
act, and here’s kind of what the story is.’ He told me a little bit about the
ideas. Things are gonna be fleshed out obviously and there’s gonna be some
other cooks in the kitchen as far as influence on what he’s writing. But all I
know is that it will be done sometime this year, hopefully sooner rather than
later, depending on his schedule. And I’m definitely coming back.”
So, are you a HATCHET fan who can’t wait for another entry
in Adam Green’s slasher series? Or do you feel the bloody exploits and legend
of Victor Crowley have run their course?
