A number of high-profile young actresses were in contention for the female lead of ODD THOMAS, the supernatural thriller based on Dean Koontz’s novel (as reported here), but now it looks like an up-and-comer is the frontrunner for the role.

Variety reports that Addison Timlin (pictured) is in talks to play Stormy Llewellyn, girlfriend of the title character (to be portrayed by Anton Yelchin) who can see and communicate with the dead and takes on the evil “Fungus Man.” Lily Collins had previously seemed the lead contender for the Stormy part, but dropped out of the running after nabbing the title role in Relativity’s upcoming Snow White film. Timlin previously appeared in DERAILED and NBC’s DAY ONE, and won attention for her recent turn as David Duchovny’s young girlfriend Sasha Bingham on Showtime’s CALIFORNICATION. Written and directed by Stephen Sommers, ODD THOMAS starts shooting May 2 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
