Yes, we know mentioning Stephen King and stage musical
brings up bad memories of CARRIE, but King and Mellencamp’s long-delayed stage
collaboration, GHOST BROTHERS OF DARKLAND COUNTY, finally has a debut date.
According to EW, the play will start previews on April 4, 2012 at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre (a launching point for several Broadway works), with the official opening date set for April 11.
GHOST BROTHERS centers on two dead boys and a girl, and covers 40 years in the life of a witness to their violent deaths in small town, late-’50s Mississippi. King penned the play’s book, while Mellencamp wrote the music and lyrics. Oscar winner T-Bone Burnett will supply the musical direction, and Alliance’s artistic director Susan V. Booth will helm.
