A trailer for Deep Silver and Techland’s upcoming zombie video game DEAD ISLAND has been getting lots of attention over the last few days (you can see it after the jump), and now Hollywood has inevitably come calling.
Variety reports that the Sean Daniel Company and Union Entertainment have picked up movie rights to the game, in which a father defends himself and his family from an undead outbreak during a tropical vacation. Daniel, whose credits include the MUMMY movies and THE WOLFMAN, and Union’s Dmitri Johnson and Richard Liebowitz (who’ve had their eye on the property for two years now) will produce, and a writer is being sought. DEAD ISLAND the game will be released in late 2011.
