Argentina has been an occasional supplier of horror fare, from the films of Daniel de la Vega (CHRONICLE OF THE RAVEN, DEATH KNOWS YOUR NAME) to the Fango Video title PLAGA ZOMBIE to the recent U.S. DVD release THE APPEARED, and now Pampa Films, one of the country’s major production houses, is getting into the genre in a big way.

Variety reports that Pampa (which is partially owned by Spain’s genre-centric Filmax) is teaming with indie company Paura Flics on a movie called SUDOR FRIO (COLD SWEAT). Adrian Garcia Bogliano (pictured), who won praise for his shocker ROOMS FOR TOURISTS a few years back, will direct from a script he wrote with his brother Ramiro and producer Hernan Moyano. Facundo Espinoza and Marina Glezer will star in the bloody story of a man trying to rescue his girlfriend from a pair of killers who are armed with explosives left over from Argentina’s 1976-82 military dictatorship. A local release is already scheduled for August 26, and Pampa hopes SUDOR FRIO will launch a series of low-cost, high-profit genre features.
