Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced a street date and specs for DAYBREAKERS, the alternative-vampire-world thriller by Aussie writer/directors Michael and Peter Spierig.
The movie, which stars Ethan Hawke (pictured), Sam Neill, Claudia Karvan and Willem Dafoe, arrives on DVD and Blu-ray May 11. It’ll be presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, accompanied by the following special features on the DVD:
• Audio commentary by the Spierigs and special FX creator Steve Boyle
• “Making of DAYBREAKERS” featurette
• Poster gallery
• Theatrical trailer
The Blu-ray will include all these plus:
• Extended feature-length version of “Making of DAYBREAKERS”
• The Spierigs’ short film THE BIG PICTURE
• Bonus View storyboard and animatics film comparison
• 2nd disc containing a digital copy of the movie
Cover art is coming soon; retail price is $29.95 for the DVD, $39.99 for the Blu-ray.
Meanwhile, as we first reported here, Anchor Bay Entertainment releases the Kevin Costner chiller THE NEW DAUGHTER May 18 on both disc formats, and the cover art has now come to light. As of now, no special features have been announced to go with the Luis Berdejo-directed film, which also stars PAN’S LABYRINTH’s Ivana Baquero, Samantha Mathis, Noah Taylor, Erik Palladino and Gattlin Griffith. The DVD retails for $29.98 and the Blu-ray is $34.98; look for an interview with Berdejo on NEW DAUGHTER in Fango #293, on sale in April.
