Author/lecturer/physician Deepak Chopra (pictured) is known as an expert on the spiritual, but now he has ventured into the supernatural for a graphic-novel project that’s also being turned into a movie.
Variety reports that Chopra has created a Liquid Comics title called BEYOND, and scripted a feature-film adaptation. It will be directed by Suri Krishnamma, who has helmed numerous British TV series and features, and tells of a businessman who takes his family on a vacation to India, where his wife disappears and he must rescue her with only her ethereal cries to guide him. “BEYOND is a story about reality being multidimensional and how we can take journeys to realms we never dreamed of by separating the veils that partition our minds,” Chopra tells the trade. The movie will be produced by Liquid’s Gotham Chopra (Deepak’s son) and Sha
rad Devarajan, along with John Garland and Michael Dufficy.
Liquid has regularly crossed over into the cinema realm by collaborating with directors like John Woo, Jonathan Mostow, Guy Ritchie and Shekhar Kapur on the comics 7 BROTHERS, THE MEGAS, GAMEKEEPER and SNAKE WOMAN respectively, and with Nicolas and Weston Cage on VOODOO CHILD. The company previously teamed with Deepak Chopra on GANESHA, BUDDHA and others. You can read more about Liquid’s products and see the first issue of the BEYOND digital comic at its official website.
