For East Coast genre maniacs, one of the highlights of the last few years has been the annual 24-Hour Horror-Thon put on by Philadelphia’s Exhumed Films. And it’s back for its fourth installment this year, running from noon on Saturday, October 30 (doors open at 11 a.m.) till noon the next day—Halloween!—at International House, 3701 Chestnut Street in Philly. As usual, the Exhumed boys aren’t announcing the titles of the 14 or so flicks they’ll be showing, all from prints—surprise is part of the fun—but past Horror-Thons have showcased everything from classics like HALLOWEEN, HELLRAISER, THE FLY, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, RE-ANIMATOR, PHANTASM, THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, FRIGHT NIGHT, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON and CREEPSHOW to cult oddities like DEAD & BURIED, THE FOOD OF THE GODS, LADY TERMINATOR and WICKED, WICKED.

There’ll be lots of trailers, shorts, etc. shown between the features as well. Tickets are now on sale for $26, and there’s a good chance the show will sell out in advance, so place your orders now! Go to the Exhumed site for further info.

The following Saturday, November 6, the organizers of the Hudson Horror Show are presenting their second all-day horror marathon, in association with Grindhouse Releasing, at the Silver Cinemas in the South Hills Mall, 1895 South Road in Poughkeepsie, NY. This time they’re running five features, all from 35mm prints: Sam Raimi’s EVIL DEAD II, Lamberto Bava’s DEMONS, Lucio Fulci’s THE GATES OF HELL, Umberto Lenzi’s CANNIBAL FEROX (a.k.a. MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY) and a viewer’s choice movie to be determined. Voting on that film (candidates include John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN, Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, Ruggero Deodato’s CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, Rob Zombie’s THE DEVIL’S REJECTS and George A. Romero’s THE CRAZIES) is currently open, and ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on October 1.

There will also be vintage exploitation trailer reels, door prizes, trivia contests and other surprises; no one under 17 will be admitted without a parent or adult guardian. Doors open at 12 noon, and the show starts at 1 p.m. and ends around 11 p.m.; advance tickets can be ordered for $26, and tickets will also be sold at the door for $30 (cash only). Go to the site linked above to place advance orders, and sign up at Hudson Horror’s Facebook page for updates.
