Screen Daily reports that Finnish director Antti-Jussi Annila will follow up his well-received chiller SAUNA with a werewolf movie called HUMAN. As the title suggests, this is a reverse-transformation tale—about a wolf that becomes a man.
“With HUMAN I expect to do a totally different kind of werewolf film, so don’t expect anything familiar to this subgenre,” Annila tells the trade. The script is being co-written by Doug Taylor, whose credits include THEY WAIT and Vincenzo Natali’s upcoming SPLICE. Dean English and Karen Powell of Canada’s Perfect Circle Productions are co-producing with Finland’s Blind Spot Pictures, whose Tero Kaukomaa comments, “It’s really exciting to get all this international talent to work alongside AJ and our Finnish team. Their participation will definitely broaden the international appeal of the film.” A start date has yet to be announced.
