When out filmmaker Joe Castro (TERROR TOONS) invited me to the set of THE SUMMER OF MASSACRE, I had no idea I’d eventually be working on, and appearing in, a slasher film so violent it would earn a place in the GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS.

If you’ve read either my editorial in FANGORIA #313, or my review of the coffin box-set in #314, you’ll have an inkling of my deep emotional and intellectual affinity with Dan Curtis’ DARK SHADOWS and the two films his revolutionary soap opera spawned. I’m also more than a little fond of the world etched by professional eccentric Tim Burton, that incredible body of work that veers madly between out of control cartoon (he was an animator first and foremost, after all) and grandiose gothic horror tropes. In between those two extremes sits the Burton mystique and love it or hate it, it’s his mystique.

Horror fans love rock ‘n roll. That’s a given, but sometimes the two mediums intertwine like Brundlefly DNA to make something new. That’s what happened with Germany’s horror punk band THE OTHER, a Misfits-inspired amalgam of all things ghoulishly quaint and blisteringly bloody.

THE WALKING DEAD has returned with EPISODE 3: LONG ROAD AHEAD, which continues the story of Lee Everett and his band of survivors, and as the s name suggests, the group is far from safe. In fact, things only seem to be getting worse. As the last episode left off, most of the group had survived a terrible ordeal involving both bandits and a family of even more dangerous cannibals. Things were looking up for a moment when the group stumbled upon supplies that you could take or leave, but as we all know, life has a tendency to turn horribly wrong in THE WALKING DEAD universe.
