Well, well. Here we are...

My first Blood Spattered Blog posting after inheriting the keys to the chocolate factory. And I’m going to use it to call attention to one of the weirdest, most eyeball spinning events in recent live television history. Something that blew my brains when I saw it and yet, somehow, has failed to have the sort of ultra impact on the people in question that it should have.

In this second of two parts (the first can be read here), I talk to writer/director/cinematographer Bart Mastronardi about his feature debut at the helm, VINDICATION (out on DVD April 13 from Big Bite Entertainment/R² Films).

Next Tuesday marks the official newsstand release date of FANGORIA #292. In case you’ve been in the Middle East fighting the Taliban and have not been around a computer for the last few months, there have been big changes afoot at the magazine, as noted in the Things to Come box on page 82 of that issue. As of the May issue (#293, on sale in April), I will no longer be serving as editor in chief of FANGORIA.

I was sitting at my desk one day when a package arrived, addressed to the FANGORIA Film Fest and myself. Inside were seven short films, one of which was called THE KILLER KRAPPER. OK, I’ll admit that intrigued me since I love bathroom humor, and I thought to myself, “Anyone who calls their film THE KILLER KRAPPER is likely OK with me.” Little did I know just what I was in for!

Bart Mastronardi is part of the East Coast low-budget horror film community that seems to crank out genre features and shorts about once a month, more often than not with him behind the camera as the DP. His first feature as a writer/director, VINDICATION, was anointed by no less than Clive Barker, and the upcoming DVD release from Big Bite Entertainment/R² Films carries his seal of approval.
