In light of several recent suicides by gay teens, prompted by horrible bullying at school, “Savage Love” columnist Dan Savage and his husband have created a video campaign to assure gay youth that it does, indeed, get better. Below the jump, you can see my video contribution to the campaign.

I’m frequently dismayed by the lack of participation by the horror community when it comes to GLBT issues (with a few notable exceptions—Hey Pax! Hey Andrew Rose!) So I’m asking—perhaps challenging—the horror community to participate in this campaign. Even if you’re not gay, you can get involved—either by recording a video that tells gay youth that there are straight people out there who value them, or spreading the word to your gay friends and encouraging them to take part as well.

Clive Barker, Don Mancini, Paul Etheredge-Outzs, Alan Rowe Kelly, Chris Diani, Bart Mastronardi, Buzz @ Camp Blood, Jason Paul Collum, Armando Munoz, Michael Simon, Wesley Eure, Vince Liaguno, Joshua Grannell, Dylan Vox, Jeffrey Reddick, Glenn McQuaid, Bruce LaBruce, Joe Castro, Tim Sullivan, Kerry O’Quinn, David Moretti and all the other folks I’ve either interviewed, or plan to interview: Make a video and help us help those who need it!
