Well, March is here and that means we have a new FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES episode for you to stream for FREE or purchase for download. This month's episode is titled "A Good Head on His Shoulders" and your guide through the strange and terrifying is, as always, Malcolm McDowell. This one is an homage to Mary Shelley's classic story "Frankenstein" but with a 1930's Chicago mob flavor.
It's an original radio play by Max Allan Collins and based on his short story. It stars JoBe Cerny as 1930's Chicago mob boss Louie Carboni with Danny Goldring as The Monster and Jamie Baron as Dr. Stein. Also heard in the cast are David Darlow, Ellie Weingardt, Norm Woodel and Jim McCance. In Chicago, in the early thirties, gang wars are an everyday occurrence. Mobster Louie Carboni is used to such violence. But what can the hideous decapitation murders of seven college professors, courtesy of a maniac dubbed the Mangler, have to do with the mob? And what does the mob’s personal doctor – Dr. Stein – have to do with the murdering Mangler? The answer lies in the Mangler himself – a monster who once was a man – as well as in the true identity of Dr. Stein, who has a very illustrious if infamous heritage. And by the end of this lightning-streaked, stormy night, gangster Carboni’s status as head man in town will be brutally challenged.
