The show, scripted by Aaron Drane, revolves around the genius Dr. Andover (played by Robert Englund), whose mission in life is to cure mankind’s phobias using his Fear Chamber, a device that can bring your worst terrors to life. “Danielle plays Susan, Dr. Andover’s oldest patient,” Hall explains, “whom he just can’t seem to cure of her scotophobia [fear of the dark], and it makes him obsessive. Kane plays Villatoro, a renegade orderly who works for Englund’s character and butts heads with him—often.” Other actors involved include Lucas Till from Hall’s features LIGHTNING BUG and LAID TO REST, seen in the first photo with the director, and Tory Kittles, who battled Hall’s monstrous creation in FRANKENFISH and is seen in the second pic as the subject of a 2nd-unit shot being set up by producer Bobbi Sue Luther, Hall’s wife who also produced and starred in REST.

Initially intending to direct only some of FEAR CLINIC, Hall wound up helming all five, with his Almost Human company providing the FX. This deep involvement expresses his tenacity for and excitement over the project, on which he aimed for a retro style and tone. “I was going for an ’80s feel, but with new toys,” he says. “This is for the web—for short attention spans—and I’m conscious of that. But the mood is certainly like an ’80s NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET sequel with some TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE in there. We have three actors who are used to playing with rubber heads and such, so why rock the boat? The old-school FX are in full effect in FEAR CLINIC. I’m proud of what we did, and I believe we really raised the bar for Internet content—especially horror. I’ve never seen anything produced for the web that looks this good or has the names we have. I’m super-stoked.”
Keep your eyes here for more details on FEAR CLINIC, which is set to premiere this October. And if you’re attending this month’s San Diego Comic-Con, check out a panel event on Friday, July 24 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Room 5AB, where none other than Clive Barker will moderate a discussion with Hall, Englund, Hodder, Harris and executive producer Jim Burns, with exclusive footage unveiled. Attendees will also be able to get autographs from the creators/stars at a signing event before the panel (3-4 p.m. at Sony Pictures’ Entertainment booth #4313), and have their pictures taken in Dr. Andover’s “Fear Chamber”!
