According to The Hollywood Reporter, British filmmaker Lawrence Gough, who currently has SALVAGE (pictured) doing the festival circuit, will next direct DROUGHT for The Works International and Mann Made Films. The movie is an ecological action/horror story in the vein of John Hillcoat’s upcoming Cormac McCarthy adaptation THE ROAD.

Absurda and Industrial Entertainment have announced that their film MY SON, MY SON, WHAT HAVE YE DONE has set a debut theatrical-release date. The movie marks the first collaboration between cinematic mavericks Werner Herzog and David Lynch, who directed and executive-produced respectively.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has come to the unsurprising decision that a sequel to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY would be a good idea. The tiny-budget chiller, once destined to be released straight to DVD if at all, has now become the sleeper hit of the year, with $86 million amassed as of yesterday.

Grindhouse Releasing has announced that it will return Sam Raimi’s 1983 fright classic THE EVIL DEAD to theaters. The company plans to send the unrated shocker into midnight bookings, similar to its revival of Lucio Fulci’s THE BEYOND a decade ago in partnership with Quentin Tarantino.

Fango caught up with fave actor Bill Moseley at the recent Rock and Shock convention in Worcester, MA, where he talked up his role as Mayor Buckman (as seen in the exclusive pic below) in Tim Sullivan’s 2001 MANIACS: FIELD OF SCREAMS. Moseley took over for Robert Englund, who portrayed Buckman in the previous MANIACS, “and those are very big shoes to fill,” he tells us.
