Streeting Oct. 13, HAUNTED AIRMAN was written and directed by Chris Durlacher, based on Dennis Wheatley’s novel THE HAUNTING OF TOBY JUGG. Pattinson stars as Jugg, an RAF pilot who’s wounded, winds up in a wheelchair and is sent to a remote hospital in Wales to recover. There, he begins suffering strange visions and dreams that lead him to question his sanity. WARLOCK’s Julian Sands co-stars; the movie will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital audio, and no special features announced. Retail price is $24.98. More vampires, meanwhile, are coming from E1 on the 13th in THE HUNGER: The Complete Second Season, a four-disc set of the horror anthology series based on Tony Scott’s feature and hosted by David Bowie. Guest stars include Brad Dourif, Eric Roberts, Giovanni Ribisi, Jennifer Beals, Lori Petty, William Katt and Cathy Moriarty, and the retail price is $39.98. E1 is also handling distribution for Gadfly Communications’ DVD of THE BLEEDING, a supernatural actioner in which a former Army Ranger (Michael Matthias) seeks vengeance on the bloodsucking sect that killed his parents. Vinnie Jones, Michael Madsen, Armand Assante, DMX, Katherine von Drachenberg (a.k.a. L.A. INK's Kat von D) and William McNamara co-star. Helmed by veteran stunt coordinator/director Charlie Picerni, it’ll be in 16x9-enhanced widescreen with Dolby 5.1 and stereo soundtracks, accompanied by behind-the-scenes footage, filmmaker interviews, etc. Retail price is $24.98.
And there’s still more: the company will distribute a trio of titles from Triumphant Pictures and Gutter Films, also on the 13th. Porn legend Ron Jeremy stars in BLOOD MOON RISING (not to be confused with the upcoming DARK MOON RISING), in which a comic-book geek and a hippie chick try to stop the devil’s daughter from destroying the world with an army of zombies, werewolves et al. The flick will be accompanied by:- Audio commentary by director/co-writer Brian Skiba and cast members
- “Behind the Moon” interview and making-of featurette
- Bloopers and outtakes
In BLOOD TIES (no relation to the TV series recently issued on disc), directed by Nathaniel Nose from his script, based on a story by producer Jeff Burton, a group of college student look into unsolved murders on their campus two decades ago and start getting bumped off themselves. BABYLON 5’s Jason Carter plays a professor; the DVD also includes a making-of segment. Finally, there’s AN ORDINARY KILLER, from directors Anthony Hornus and Jeff Kennedy, starring Dan Haggerty, Dennis Haskins, Terence Knox and Charles Matthau in yet another true-life story of a serial murderer who terrorized a small town in the early ’70s, and wasn’t brought to justice until nearly 30 years later. All three Triumphant/Gutter titles are in widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and retail for $24.95.
