Official U.S. [REC] DVD announced

recusdvdthumbAt long last, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza’s terrifying Spanish chiller [REC] is coming off the shelf and being released on Stateside DVD by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The movie was held up while Sony produced and released the English-language remake QUARANTINE last year.

[REC], which follows a TV news crew into an apartment house with a fire department on a late-night call, only for them all to be trapped inside with the residents as a mysterious plague turns them into bloodthirsty killers, arrives on disc July 14. The movie will be presented in both the original Spanish and English-dubbed versions, and a [REC]: Making-of featurette will be included. Retail price is $24.96; cover art is coming soon.

I bought the UK region 2, double-disc DVD last August and it had the same 2-disc set-up as the Spanish release (including ALL the features on that set) and the features, docs, deleted scenes, etc. all had subs.
    Sometimes it pays to wait.

I`ve seen first the Spanish film and after that the American remake. The remake had it`s interesting bits and pieces but the director should have watched the original more closely, because the Spanish film was far superior in the suspense department and scene composition was aslo far better than in the remake. I liked the ending of the American one better, because of the missing half assed religious theme about the cause of the "quarantine" and the spaltter effects were also great, which I missed totally in the original version. Nevertheless, check out the Spanish film, which stands tall and way proud out of the croud of fucking sequels and remakes Californian studios are bombarding us with.

I went through the trouble of getting the international version (which led to the furthre expense of getting a region-free DVD player) and it was totally worth it!
Best Horror film i have seen in years- american version sans the whole supernatural element is not the same-
a modern classic- only downer being all the extras- and there were a ton on this two disc set- were not in english nor sub titles provided-

About flamin' time! I was about to go bug over not scoring that cult hit. I wonder when the pay channels will get a hold of this classic. (If only MONSTERS HD was still in business. This picture would've been an excellent choice.)
