BREATH OF HATE, which Cain will direct from Laurie’s script, is about a young woman who works as an escort but is about to leave the business, and encounters a trio of violent escaped mental patients on her last job. “Ezra Buzzington has the leading role of Hate,” Cain says. “I worked with him recently on SOMEONE’S KNOCKING AT THE DOOR [see previous item here], which has played at the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival and more recently at the Another Hole in the Head fest up in San Francisco. We’re currently in talks with a few well-respected actresses in the horror genre for the role of Love, and hopefully will know something about that soon.
“In the meantime, we’ve been holding auditions,” Cain continues. “The first session took place last weekend, where we saw quite a number of people. Out of that, we were able to officially cast Tim Muskatell in the role of Poot, a pot-smoking pimp. I last worked with Muskatell on SILENT NIGHT [pictured], where he played the main villain, Raccoon. Also, we’ve hired director of photography Nickolas Rossi, who last worked with Ezra as well as Stephen Geoffreys and Corey Haim on NEW TERMINAL HOTEL [which we last covered here]. After seeing his reel and talking with him for about three hours, I realized he would be a perfect fit for this production.”Cain and co. have also brought on SILENT NIGHT’s Mario Salvucci to do BREATH’s score, having first been impressed with his soundtrack for the upcoming JESSICKA RABID. We’ll keep you posted on BREATH OF HATE’s further progress.
