Re: Cable Guy's Movierant

Make these god damned movies!!!

I really don't understand the problem of big Hollywood companies. Have they ran out ideas? Is that why they make all these stupid remakes and no longer makes new good movies? Well, If so, I have some ideas for you!!

Duke Nuke'Em The Movie - Remember the old Shoot Em' Up game? I loved it when I was a teenager, and I think it would be an awesome over the top action movie. Shooting, nudity, aliens and over the top-gore!
It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of gum!

Calvin & Hobbes - I don't understand why there's not been made a cartoon out of Watterson's comics. It would be one hell of an awesome movie! Just think of it; Everything that goes around Calvin's head. I know I would love it!

Wolfenstein - One of my alltime favorite Shoot Em' Up games ever made. It would be an awesome warmovie!

Valhalla - A movie about the norse gods and the battle between good and evil, based on the old Norwegian stories about the gods. As far as I know, it's never been made before.

Cannon Fodder - Based on the computer game with the same name. It would be one hell of a hilarious warmovie, and Tarantino could have directed it. As the tagline on the game says: War has never been so much fun!

More movies will be added in the future. What do you people think of these ideas?

^^ I know, but I really don't think they have made any movies out of good games yet. Besides Doom, but that movie sucked besides the 2-3 minutes with the chainsaw.

I agree with you Cable Guy, Duke Nukem and Wolfenstein have the potential to be awesome movies, however so did Doom, Resident Evil, and all of the Game to movie crossovers that Uwe Boll has murdered!

Re: Cable Guy's Movierant

If You're gonna do a remake, pick a good movie!!

I know I've said many bad things about remakes, and I have my reasons. Remakes has been in the spotlight many years now, and it's seems like it won't stop right away. One thing that hits me is that most remakes is bad basicly to earn money on the original idea, and to serve horror to a younger audience. I say; what the fuck!?
Horrormovies are not mad for children, and if you are gonna make a remake of a slasher flick from the 70's or 80's you better not spare on the good stuff! I've always been a fan of sequels instead of remakes, alltough I have to say that I've actually seen a couple of decent remakes. In my opinion, the best remakes made in the past years are:

The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
Black Christmas (2006)
Halloween (2007)
Prom Night (2008)

But what about all the other remakes? Ewwww!
Why can't they leave the classics alone, and remake something new?
Some of the movies I would like to see remakes of are:

Knives Of The Avenger (1966)
Thriller; En Grym Film (1974)
The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976)
The Shining (1980)
Motel Hell (1980)
Final Exam (1981)
Visiting Hours (1982)
Curtains (1983)
The Toxic Avenger (1984)
Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer (1986)
Cheerleader Camp (1988)

There's some remakes for yah!!!

Black Christmas and Prom Night? Are you serious???

Fuck man, those movies were fucking horrible and Black Christmas most of all. It was a complete disgrace to the first one. You actually liked those?

Dawn of the Dead and My Bloody Valentine's remakes were a million times better than those.

Re: Cable Guy's Movierant

I love the Black Christmas remake even more than the original. Nice kills, and good atmosphere, and we get a backstory for the happenings later in the movie.

I never found The original Prom Night good in any way. It's dull and has a lame killer.

Black Christmas is one of the best slasher movies ever made and if it wasn't for it, Carpenter never would have made Halloween.

The original Prom Night wasn't very good and I never thought they could make it worse, but they did.

Peter Jackson, get your fat ass back in the indy-director chair and make Bad Taste 2 and Braindead 2!

I swear, if PJ does not make Bad Taste 2 or Braindead 2 soon, I'm personally gonna kill him!
Wasting his talent by making remakes of King Kong and the LOTR trilogy!
I've waited  half a lifetime soon, just fucking make those movies!

Re: Cable Guy's Movierant

Some of the movies I would like to see remakes of are...

The Shining (1980)...

The Shining (1997)
Director: Mick Garris
Writer: Stephen King (novel & teleplay)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118460/

King wasn't particularly happy with Kubrick's re-imagining of his novel, to he wrote the script for the remake, and hand-picked Garris to direct. I doubt he's going to let anyone else have a crack at it.

Some More Ideas For Yah!!

As I said in a rant before, I don't understand why they make so many remakes and prequels, when there is so many good ideas out there. As a kid, I got my first Commodore-64 in the age of 6, and It hit me how many good movies there could be based on Commodore-64 games. Here is some of the games I know I would like to see as movies:

I'm confused by your "rants." On one hand you're against remakes, while ranting about so many "original" ideas out there that Hollywood can do, and on the other hand, you keep posting that you want to see video games made into movies, which are basically remakes of video games and not original ideas at all.

^^ It's more original to use good ideas from books and videogames, than remaking old movies.

I don't understand how it's any more original to use good ideas from books & videogames than it is to use good ideas from old movies.

While some people may believe there's a difference, I don't understand why.
