Re: the remakes just won't die here's the line up from 2009-2012

Hey, remakes are just films that have the same, EXACT, title as the original. How many slashers are 'remakes' of
HALLOWEEN? (which was a bit of a remake of BLACK CHRISTMAS..)

Maybe we should just get over the whole remake thing. It's how it works. If you're like me, you'll stay home and
watch the original that you love, and ignore the remake (I've never seen RZ's HALLOWEEN, and never will). How
many zombie thrillers owe a tip of the hat to NOTLD? Same thing.

I love the orig. F13 and MBV less than HALLOWEEN, so I'll see those remakes.

I just wish the studios would free up some money for the development of new stories. Things will end up getting really stale if they don't start getting adventurous (Hey, I got a couple of pitches!!!) Having said that, I have totally enjoyed a few of the remakes, particularly Rob Zombie's "Halloween" and "The Hills Have Eyes".

They're remaking "Humongous"?  Sweet!

When are people going to get over the remake thing already?  It happens, it is happening because someone somewhere will pay money to see them.

And if horror fans want to do something about it, then don't see it.  I'm sure personally you'll feel great but the commerce machine that is the movie industry will go on.

I know its hard for many people to deal with the fact that their personal opinions, especially about something as important as movies, aren't what the majority of the population may think but that's life unfortunately.

Many people MAY want to see some of these movies...so it's not the evil that many are making it out to be.  People in this very thread said they like the idea of some.  A remake's existence doesn't cancel out the original.

It seems that the very "idea" of remakes is hurtful to people lately, regardless of if the movie itself will be any good.

Re: the remakes just won't die here's the line up from 2009-2012

What a waste of time. There are elements of many of these older films that just cannot be redone or remade because there is no frame of reference. Just look at the Wicker Man remake. Everything that was good about it was replaced with CGI shit and idiocy. And you can see it plain as day if you'd ever seen the original and had half a brain.

Well what they're doing now is taking original scripts & screenplays & re appropriating them, adapting them within the framework of another movie. So in essence they're still buying new work. They're just not taking the risk of new characters. It's like the chef Guy Fieri selling recipes to TGI Fridays.

The other thing to point out here is how many remakes were announced in the last 7 years that stalled. Not all of these films on that list have had dollars actually allocated to production. They're merely in development.

I can recall hearing on numerous occasions of a Black Sunday/Mask Of Satan remake. It was supposed to be finished & out in 2003! These things stall & crash more often then they get made. I mean even with things like Spiderman & X-men going from concept to the screen took 15 - 20 + years. Personally I won't bitch about a remake unless I've seen it and I thought it sucked. I have no basis to complain about what I haven't seen.

Re: the remakes just won't die here's the line up from 2009-2012

A few of these might actually be good to remake.

Others...... don't even need it.

If something is fantastic the first time, I don't see the point. Right?
