Giallo Madness

It's taken me a handful of tries over the years, but as of now I'm a full-blown Gialli addict. The Italian/European
Horror sub-genre featuring luscious women (often models) being stalked by black-gloved killers in exotic cities -
usually to the lounge-y 70s music of Ennio Morricone or Bruno Nicolai. Stylish and sexy, trippy and violent, they
were started by Mario Bava (THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, BLOOD AND BLACK LACE) and made commercially
viable by Dario Argento (THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, DEEP RED, TENEBRE, OPERA).

I've seen pretty much all of the major ones, and am collecting as many of the obscure entries I can get my
hands on - with the help of eBay and bootleg dealers. Several books on the Giallo have been helpful in my search,
and the repros of original poster art look awesome.

Which Gialli have you seen and liked?  EYEBALL, ALL THE COLORS OF THE DARK, DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING..?

hey Nosferatu...every day you have me going wow nice avatar Smiley. great posters they had back then!

big fan ever since i saw I Spit On Your Grave and then i found out Camille Keaton was in this other movie that sounded good(What Have You Done To Solange?) so i ordered it. that was my first taste and ever since i have been buying them. own about 60 of them now, 22 of which i have not yet watched.

i really would like to see Perfume Of A Lady In Black but i had a problem with an order so i am going to have to try to get that one another time. Another i want to see is Paranoia but i think that i have only found that with Italian audio so far. That's teally all i can think of for now that i want to see but i can find more.

Hey man, thanks..!

PERFUME is one of the ones I just ordered from a private seller, and I'm really looking forward to it. Haven't been able
to find PARANOIA yet but it looks good. I'm snatching up copies left and right so I'm not sure how many I have
(all the Bava's, all the Argento's, BLUE EYES OF THE BROKEN DOLL, IGUANA WITH TONGUE OF FIRE, GIALLO A
VENIZIA, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTERS, RED QUEEN KILLS SEVEN TIMES, SEVEN BLOOD-STAINED
ORCHIDS, CRIMES OF THE BLACK CAT, etc., etc. -- with many more on the way.

I'm not at the point of ordering films that have no subtitles and aren't dubbed, but man it's tempting to get those too(!)
The books I have and the ones on their way in the mail will be really helpful. I'll just check off each one as I go.

If you're interested in selling or trading let me know and we'll work something out. I've got stuff from every category
so if there's something you've been looking for..

Thanks!

I've got both scrapbooks, and that Dolce one looks good.. The other one I ordered is BLOOD AND BLACK LACE
which is fantastic. They just make it easier to collect (they highlight the better ones of the bunch, although
sometimes it's just the pics of bloodshed and nudity that suck me in).

What rare ones do you have..?

Solid list. I just finished watching DEATH WALKS AT MIDNIGHT and THE FIFTH CORD and they were both really
great. Lenzi's EYEBALL is fun and better than his SEVEN BLOODSTAINED ORCHIDS.

Luckily NoShame, Blue Underground, and others are making these easier to come by.

"Death Walks At Midnight" and "The Fifth Chord?" I'll have to check those out. One I still haven't seen, which I've heard nothing but good things about is "Torso?" Seen it? If so, is it as good as advertised?

Also I know Giallos are an Italian thing, but I can't help to bring up the only film I can think of as an American Giallo: "Alice, Sweet Alice." Which is a really good film and also one of my faves. You've had to have seen it, right? If so, what'd you think?

Re: Giallo Madness

Torso is definitely great. if you aren't feeling it the first time i'm sure you'll warm up to it slowly and one or two more times you'll be there.

a few of my favorite are The Killer Must Kill Again, The Bird With The Crystal Plumage, and What Have You Done To Solange?...those are the ones i took to most upon first viewing so they are the best to me. just because some have to grow on you don't mean they are bad. i appreciate those in a whole different way.

I'm ready to rewatch some Fenech/Hilton tagteam efforts!
